As I’ve definitely gotten a yearning to know more about my heritage, frankly, the character of the Viking Age and it’s people are still in the mist for me. Of course, I’m reading other blogs and checking Wikipedia pages, but I want to start digging deep. That to me means sitting down with a cup or three of coffee and reading.
To that end, I found what looks to be an outstanding Top-10 list of books listed on the Norse Mythology for Smart People blog. I’m thinking about getting The Sea Wolves: A History of the Vikings by Lars Brownworth, as it seems to touch on the more really…. entertaining part of Viking popular knowledge.
It’s not going to tell the tale of ancient Norwegian life, that’s for certain, but it seems a good place to begin chopping into the subject in a scholarly manner.
