I have become enamored of an idea: I want to make myself a Kuksa.
I’m talking about a traditional Scandinavian wooden drinking vessel, made by hand out of a Birch burl. Done right, a person’s kuksa can last a lifetime and be part of the definition of who they are. One set of instructions I found here, but there are legions of videos on the craft, as well.
My current hurdle is to figure out where I can get the needed burl. Or rather, several, as it may take me a bit to get a grip on how to successfully craft my vessel.
But I’ll get it done!
